Published in 2025, Rethinking Histories of Indonesia provides a critical evaluation of histories of Indonesia from the formal period of colonisation to the present day. It is the first volume to delve deeper into understanding Indonesian history through a decolonial framework.

This event will bring together three of the book’s editors, Sadiah Boonstra, Katharine McGregor and Abdul Wahid, as well as Ajeng Ayu Arainikasih as a contributor. With Asri Saraswati as discussant and Tania Anjani Maulana as moderator, join us as the speakers dive deeper into their writing, and learn more about themes of coloniality in understanding histories of Indonesia.
